Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment is the cleaning, disinfection and sealing of the root canal space inside of a tooth.  If the nerve and blood vessels become infected or inflamed, Root Canal Treatment is needed.

Sometimes this process can be completed in one appointment, but other times it requires two or more appointments.  If this is the case, the first visit will be to clean out the nerve space and place an antibacterial medication inside the tooth.

At the second visit, the Root Canal Treatment can be completed as long as the tooth is feeling better.

We often place a foundation filling after completing the root canal treatment to help rebuild the tooth.  If the tooth is a molar or premolar, often a crown is needed with your dentist as a final step to fix the tooth.
